Haruma

The Demon

“Those who sense true evil are also usually the ones with an even heavier sin”

-Haruma Hiroyasu

Biography

Tatsu lives by a principle of rank, respect, and strength, those who deem themselves a worthy brute may earn these labels. But at the very top of it all stands the hooded demon himself; Haruma Hiroyasu. Even the most armed and threatening crooks of the city hesitate in fear when hearing the name of this husk of a man. He is a judicator that watches from the shadows, pulverizing whom he deems wicked and vile.

Haruma was once a peaceful jademage and skilled martial artist living in northern Tekkan, he thrived the art of fighting, but he couldn't have foreseen his worst fight yet to come. After serving in Yamamura, both of Haruma's arms were burnt and amputated off, the loss of these ligaments eliminated Haruma from any hope in pursuing his love for fighting. Torn and hopeless, the arm-less monk was desperate for a solution, his anger interfered with his meditation, denying him of any chance of peace. One day, a former general for Shilon; Coda Toshinobu, but also known as “The Kage”, a man also scathed from the aftermath of the war. He was infected with a curse called Shadowheart, a parasite of everlasting agony, but also hidden power. Kage offered Haruma this so-called power, to be able to restore the glory days of fighting. Concerned, but desperate, he agreed. Kage then transferred his own corruption on the young man, infesting his veins with the dark energy and used that energy to manipulate an old pair of gloves in his control. But the curse excruciating Haruma into insanity. The peaceful mindset he learned from the Jademages has been stained, making him another vessel to the Itami Cult.

Over the years, Haruma lived his life fighting at the side of Kage, which was a life of slaughter and unthinkable acts of terror, ranking him as Kage’s henchman of the cult. One day, a quiet and soft voice whispered in Haruma’s mind, it seemed to be a small spirit of light that resembled his former self. Even though this spirit was outnumbered to Haruma’s corruption, it clashed with his inner demons, draining him mentally. After countless self battles in the mind, Haruma had tamed the Shadowheart corruption, regaining his old mentality but keeping the other effects of the infection. Haruma has witnessed the true horrors he and the Itami have inflicted on countless lives.

At last efforts, Haruma sabotaged a ritual involving corruption to an innocent young boy. Haruma snatched the child when the opportunity struck, and escaped Itami territory and fled to Tatsu to cut all losses and start a new chapter.

For the past 15 years, Haruma has gained a reputation where most of the masses comprehend him as a myth or a supernatural being. He tries to rest his burdens, torn between peace and rage, but inevitably finding himself glimpsing down the depths of Tatsu. running into unfortunate vile bastards who prey on the vulnerable, such as Kage did to him.
