Jinsei

The Monk

“His words are silent, yet inspiring, I don't know how he does that.”

-Anhai Wu

Biography

Jinsei is a rogue bunraku that wanders the land with his whimsical and vague ambitions. Wielding the Totem of Sealed Spirits, proving to be the most powerful and graceful Jade master in ages. Being able to harness energy from the mind to manipulate magic and summon friendly spirits.

The Totem of Sealed Spirits, is a large but rather lightweight weapon containing Jade energy and dialect from ancient Jademages, a clan of mystical monks that mastered the art of spirit, the first principle of strength, which revolves around the act of drawing magic through inner peace and spirit. The totem was held within the Jinju temple in Shilon and has been sacred throughout Jademage history, it was made for the one and only chosen Jinsei, a true monk that resembles the one worthy of the Totem of Sealed Spirits. Anyone is able to wield it, but those who aren't redeemed worthy are cursed with incredibly bad luck if they so help lay a finger on the stone totem, but those proven to be the true owner of the totem are officially praised as the wise Jinsei, the name of whoever is proven to wield the club. But doing so requires immense strength of mind.

For hundreds of years, the totem stood still, until a wandering stranger made of metal and technology walked into the temple and changed everything for all of Jagemage students and masters. According to its appearance, it was forged within the same factory that constructed the Tatsu Bunrakus. But it seems it has malfunctioned in a way and has a mind of its own. Wandering all the way from the island of Tekkan to the valleys of Shilon. The Jademage monks and students gazed in curiosity as the metal puppet picked up the totem with ease for the first time in ages without any hesitation, and the expected wind of terror and bad luck stood absent and was replaced with the harmonious souls that surrounded the bunraku. The bunraku was now the new official Jinsei. This drew many students who obsessed over the totem mad and jealous, which was against Jademage standards ironically. Monks speculated it was more than a machine, almost all bunraku entities are completely soulless, but this one, in particular, had free will and left a spiritual presence. It was completely self-aware, despite having zero way to export speech.

Jinsei has since been worshiped upon others and has become the face of Jademage culture, and has shocked many of its witnesses with its power and skill in Jade magic. Overwhelming many students and even experienced monks. After his appearance, many Jademages left in jealousy since it has placed them in a bad state of mind, which plagues their potential in the art. Others, however, have accepted their true identity. Jinsei often spends his days wandering the land, teaching and sharing others his wisdom, preserving lost souls to rest and meditate in the temple by night while being followed by other jade students who are curious and befuddled with its existence.
