Biography

Kasamatsu is a lone, and loyal, ryoshin assassin who was mysteriously sent in to serve and protect, Angylyn; leader of the Smoking Serpents, and daughter of a deceased Seigun Samurai. No one knows her history, or even her emotions, if she had any. She was quiet, cunning, and rather soulless, some say they never saw her blink. But if there was one thing the Smoking Serpents knew about her was her ambition, when Angylyn was approached by Kasamatsu, the lone ryoshin said she was sent from a former master from far away, to serve under the command of her and her only. Angylyn, who was looking for worthy recruits at the time, quickly accepted her offer without question.

     The Smoking Serpents began their roots from there, Kasamatsu ‘found’ a compound deep within the city for shelter, they opened a sashimi joint to blend within the masses and make a profit off of Kasamatsu's surprisingly talent for cooking. As they recruited more members, they continuously grew on from there, whenever it was with it’s ups and downs, but the one thing that hasn’t changed was the one facial expression Kasamatsu showed when driving her sword down her enemy's throats, which was blank. Kasamatsu became so deadly and cold-blooded that Angylyn had to limit her aggression since it betrayed their ‘peaceful’ movement. It seems those who live by the ryoshin live a life without mercy, or soul. The Smoking Serpents are a rebellious gang, but they are also a family, they eat together, laugh together, but during all that, the lone ryoshin stood in the back, waiting for her next command.

  • Kasamatsu was based after Shen and Akali from League of Legends.

  • Kasamatsu had a brother, whom she killed after he attacked her for refusing to rejoin his clan.

  • The Ryoshin clan is based on the real-life Shinobi in Japanese history.

  • The term 'kunoichi' is the female equivalent of a female Shinobi.

  • Her character was inspired by Jin from the anime Samurai Champloo, Megaera from the 2020 game Hades by Supergiant Games, and Kyuzo from Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.

  • Kasamatsu's soulless personality is based on the Heartless Woman from Yorgos Lanthimos's "The Lobster".

  • Her character is also inspired by the main character of Sekiro; Shadows Die Twice.

    • The scene that inspired the character initially was the cutscene of Kuro giving Sekiro (Okami) a sweet rice ball. Sekiro, surprised ​by its taste, enjoyed the rice ball, for he has never experienced a sweetened treat in his life of soulless bloodshed.  This analogy comes into play when Kasamastu is forced to work with characters such as Nioh, who have completely opposite character traits, allowing Kasamatsu's character to grow from her unsmiling traits and past.
