Biography

Demigoddess of the almighty Ox, and family relative to the Shenhai family, Lao is the current empress of the Shilon Empire.

Her high ambition and inspiration have led her armies to march onward in even the most hopeless of battles. Unlike other rulers before her, Lao refused the privilege of royalty and chose to charge in the very front line of her soldiers, symbolizing both sheer strength and courage. With shield and hammer in hand, Lao serves to inspire the people of Shilon, while being an impenetrable wall on the battlefield

Since birth, Lao thrived for the people of Shilon and their ideals, wanting the throne not for honor but for it’s best. She would spend her free time growing up assisting villagers and doing the heavy lifting in building houses and farms. As hardworking and faithful she was, it wasn’t enough to compete with her brother, Ren Shenhai. The disappointment was inevitable, but as long as she fought for Shilon, it didn’t matter to her


After Yamamura, the loss of Fubai, the corruption of

Coda Toshinobu, the crumbling of Shaojin; an alley nation, and the

loss of Emperor Ren, she finally achieved her dream after all the grief. She never realized the burdens a ruler can have in a post-apocalyptic world, especially being all alone. With the entire world on her back, she continues to rule Shilon, even during these dark times, yearning to restore Shilon's former glory and bring honor to her ancestors, her father, and most importantly; her people.

Trivia

  • Lao is the first Shenhai demigod to be designed, right before Ren and Fubai.

  • Her character and personality are directly based on the Year of the Ox's characteristics in the Chinese zodiac.

  • Lao was redesigned in 2021 in celebration of the Year of the Ox.

  • Lao’s shield design was influenced by the character Braum from League of Legends.

    • In the redesign, A pair of horns on the lower half was removed to distinguish the similar design Braum. Also because the horns resembled more a goat’s horns than an ox.​

  • Lao has made law as an empress to legally leave the kingdom disguised as a peasant to visit outside nations. While the original intention was to spy and gather intel, Lao does this so she can familiarise herself with foreigners across the globe.

  • Before the Tatsu shogunate closed their country to the outsiders, Tekkan used to be Lao’s favorite place to visit. She was very indulged in their culture and watching it evolve, she even made a group of friends that were sake salesmen.

    • One of these sake salesmen was a winged drunkard who had a suspicious ability to remain undying.​
